If you’ve looked at my twitter feed or profile you’ll see I’m really passionate about an organisation called Junior Chamber International (JCI). I’ve been very fortunate to meet some great people and have many amazing experiences through JCI and wanted to share some of that, to help others see how they and more importantly their communities can benefit…

JCI’s mission is

To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global network for young people in their 20s and 30s. We are present in more than 100 countries and have almost 200,000 members across the world. The organisation is run by its own members which is an area I’ve got involved in over the last few years. In 2011 I was Personal Development Director; responsible to organising the annual programme of training and development. In 2013 I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to lead the chamber in Sheffield as the President.

JCI Meet on a regular basis for fun, friendship, networking and development through a variety inspiring events and projects with our members. To find how more or how you can get involved click here

Whilst being involved with JCI I have made a number of life long friends and forged some great relationships. I’ve had the opportunity to visit some great business’s, meet the leaders running them and gain insights into their journey. I’ve attended numerous diners and seminars both locally and nationally from the Sheffield Business Awards, to Afternoon tea with the Master Cutler and Mayor of Sheffield to meeting Peter Jones at the Made Festival in 2011 and HRH The Duke of York at the Jubilee Celebrations in 2012!!

I’ve also been very fortunate to extend my network within the national and international elements of JCI having attended conferences and seminars at both levels. In 2011 I travelled to my first international conference in Brussels, Belgium to the World Conference, then in 2012 to Braunschweig, Germany for European Conference and finally Monaco in 2013 for European Conference. The conferences are a great opportunity to make new contacts and attend amazing training and keynote speeches.
